Overview: Pine sylvestris essential oil is produced from the distillation of the twigs, needles, and cones of the Pine tree, especially Pinus Sylvestris. This oil is also known by the names Scots Fir or Scotch Fir oil. The Scots pine (UK), Scotch pine (US) or Baltic pine species of pine tree is widely seen throughout Eurasia, Western Europe Eastern Siberia, and different parts of Asia. The pine is widely planted in New Zealand mainly for timber but the oil is not produced commercially perhaps because of the cost of production and also the availability of synthetic pine oil.
