Overview: Wintergreen essential oil is obtained from the leaves of wintergreen herb. Wintergreen is a group of aromatic plants that remain green throughout the winter. Wintergreens contain an aromatic compound, methyl salicylate, and are used as a mint-like flavouring. Wintergreen oil is a pink to reddish liquid that is strongly aromatic with a sweet, woody odour. Wintergreen essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves of the plant following maceration in warm water. There are two species that can be used to produce the oil, Gaultheria procumbens and Gaultheria fragrantissima. We supply Indian, Nepal and Chinese origin wintergreen oil.

It is understood that some aboriginal tribes of North America, such as the Mohawk and Ojibwe people, used wintergreen for easing respiratory ailments, breathing difficulties and weakness and for calming inflammation and pain.
