Our blue yarrow oil gives a delightful and pervasive scent, characterised by sweet, fresh, and green-herbaceous notes, complemented by a subtle woody and somewhat camphoraceous undertone. As the fragrance evolves during the dry down phase, it transforms into a sweeter aroma. The genus name Achillea is derived from the mythical Greek character Achilles, who is said to have carried it with his army to treat battle wounds. During the steam distillation process, matricin, a sesquiterpene and one of the essential oil constituents, decomposes into chamazulene due to heat and pressure. This transformation imparts a deep vivid blue colour to the oil. Chamazulene is widely recognized for its beneficial properties for the skin. The yield of this oil through steam distillation is relatively low, ranging from 0.07% to 0.25%, contributing to its higher price. The oil we offer is sourced from Morocco, undergoes testing, and is packed in France following strict EU guidelines.
