Overview: Cinnamomum Cassia, also known as Chinese cinnamon, is a native of China. There are a couple of varieties of cinnamon. Among these the Sri Lankan Cinnamon is regarded as the top variety and the Chinese variety an affordable variant. Since it has similar properties of cinnamon bark oil, cassia oil is used as an affordable alternative. More than 160 phytochemicals have been isolated from cassia and is regarded as one among the best 50 herbs in traditional Chinese medicine. Common Use: Cassia essential oil has an uplifting aroma and it is used in diffusers believing it can promote feelings of arousal. This is a belief and there are no scientific citations available about this. There are warnings issued against high usage of cassia essential oil as it can cause liver damage. It is also a skin irritant and not recommended for use in skin.
