Overview: SALVIA SCLAREA known as Clary Sage, is a medicinal plant known from the 4th century onwards. Clary sage is now produced mainly for the production of essential oils in Southern France, Italy, and the US. The name is derived from the Latin word ‘clarus’ meaning cleansing. It is believed to improve vision and hence got its name clary sage. Clary sage essential oil is historically known as the essential oil for women. The French origin is the reference in our industry. Common use: Clary sage essential oil is traditionally used to prevent fungal infections. Clary sage essential oil is applied in wounds and burns to prevent infection. It is used as a traditional remedy and there are not enough clinical validations available for citation. In aromatherapy, clary sage essential oil is used in diffusers as a mood enhancer which may ease stress. It is often used in hair care products to get rid of dandruffs and greasiness. Clary sage oil is also known as an aphrodisiac for women.
