Overview: Ho wood essential oil, also known as Shiu wood oil, is derived from the Cinnamomum camphora tree, which is native to regions in East Asia, including China. Ho wood oil is extracted from the leaves and twigs of the Cinnamomum camphora tree. This tree is also known as the Ho tree or Shiu tree. The essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the twigs and leaves. Ho wood essential oil has a sweet, floral, and woody aroma with subtle hints of camphor. Its fragrance is reminiscent of rosewood oil, which is now a rare and endangered species. Due to this similarity, Ho wood oil is often used as a sustainable alternative to rosewood oil in perfumery and aromatherapy. The main chemical component of Ho wood oil is linalool, which is responsible for its pleasant floral scent. Ho wood oil is used as a fragrance ingredient in perfumery due to its floral and woody scent. It blends well with other essential oils and can add a warm and rosy note to fragrances. Camphor oil is derived from the Cinnamomum camphora tree as well, but it is extracted from the wood of the tree, particularly from the camphor laurel variety. The camphor laurel is different from the Ho tree used for Ho wood oil. Hence, please don’t get confused when choosing these two products. We supply Ho wood oil, originating from China. The product we supply complies with flavouring standards in EU as per council directive 1334/2008
