Overview: Peppermint essential oil is extracted by steam distillation of the leaves of MENTHA PIPERITA and MENTHA ARVENSIS. The herb peppermint is a hybrid of water mint and spearmint and grows throughout Europe and North America. Peppermint can grow in partial shade or full sun in warm climatic conditions. It is ideal to harvest it in the sun to get a higher yield of oil. However, in too warm growing conditions especially at night, less desirable compounds like Menthofuran will form.
