GC/MS batch-tested to ensure quality, safety and effectiveness
Overview: Patchouli oil is produced by steam distillation of the leaves of Pogostemon Cablin. Famous for its woody, spicy, musky, earthy scent, the Patchouli oil has been in use for hundreds of years. Patchouli also known as “the scent of the sixties” is a flowering plant species in the mint family. Patchouli oil’s name is believed to be derived from the Hindi word “pacholi” which means “to scent”. The plant is native to Brazil, Hawaii, and Asian regions like China, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia. It is now extensively cultivated in tropical climates around the world, especially in Asia, South America, Madagascar, and the Caribbean but Indonesia produces 90% of the global volume. There are two grades of patchouli oil, dark and light though the scent remains the same. Although they are both extracted from the same species Pogostemon cablin, the containers in which they are distilled determines the colours. The oil distilled in a stainless-steel vat, appears thin in viscosity and deep amber or light in colour. However the oil distilled in a cast-iron vat is thick in viscosity and has a deep brown or dark colour. We supply the Indonesian origin patchouli oil packed and tested in France.
